French Open Tennis: Sania advances to 2nd round of Women's Singles

Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza has advanced to the second round of the Women's Singles in the French Open Tennis Championships. In the first round in Paris today, 74-ranked Sania put up a clinical performance to beat Kristina Barrois of Germany in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Barrois is ranked 15 rungs above the Indian.Sania now faces the winner of the match between 12th seed Polish Agnieszka Radwanska and Patricia Mayr-Achleitner of Austria.French Open title hopefuls Novak Djokovic and Francesca Schiavone have also moved into the second round. While men's second seed Djokovic of Serbia extended his winning streak to 40 matches with a 6-2 6-1 6-3 win over Dutchman Thiemo de Bakker, defending women's champion Schiavone of Italy raced past American Melanie Oudin 6-2 6-0.
