French Open suffers first washout since 2000

The French open Tennis tournament suffered its first complete washout since 2000 yesterday when all scheduled matches were cancelled due to heavy rain at Roland Garros. It is the first time in 16 years the rain has caused a whole day's play to be abandoned at the tournament.However, more rain is forecast in the French capital Paris today.Eight pre-quarterfinal matches planned for yesterday and two matches held over from Sunday night will now be played today.Three quarter-finals are also due to take place today. In the men's Singles event, Andy Murray will take on Richard Gasquet while defending champion Stan Wawrinka will clash with Ramos-Vinolas.World number one Novak Djokovic's match against Spanish 14th seed Roberto Bautista Agut has also been rescheduled for today.In the women's singles, Sarena Williams will meet Ukraine's 18th seed Elina Svitolina while Shelby Rogers will face Garbine Muguruza.
