In the first round of the event in Paris, she defeated Czech Iveta Benesova in straight sets 6-2 6-3. Eighth seeded Stosur will next face Romanian Simona Halep, who beat Russia's Alla Kudryavtseva 6-2 6-1 in another first round match.
