Sania Mirza and Elena Vesnina have reached the women's doubles semi-finals of the French Open Tennis Championships. In Paris on Monday, the seventh-seeded Indo-Russian pair defeated the top-seeded duo of Gisela Dulko of Argentina and Flavia Pennetta of Italy in straight sets 6-0, 7-5.For Sania Mirza, it is her first ever French Open semi-finals.In the men's doubles, the Indo-Pak combination of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-haq Qureshi reached the quarter-finals. The duo beat Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan and Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan in straight sets 6-3, 7-5. The 'Indo-Pak Express' will now clash with top seeded American twins Mike and Bob Bryan.It will be the third quarterfinal appearance in the last four Grand Slams for Bopanna and Qureshi. Bopanna is the only Indian surviving in the men's doubles as Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi made a shock second round exit.The American twins advanced by defeating Russia's Teymuraz Gabashvili and Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan in straight sets 7-6, 7-5 in the pre-quarter-finals.
