French Open: Rafael Nadal to lock horns with Novak Djokovic for semifinal berth

In the French Open, the second Grand Slam of the season, nine-time and defending champion Rafael Nadal will lock horns with world number one Novak Djokovic today for a place in the semi-final. This is the 44th meeting between the two players. Nadal, currently world number 7, leads the ATP head-to-head series 23 to 20, but Djokovic has won five of their past six matches. Nadal, known as the King of the Clay, has won 70 games at Roland Garros and lost just one in the 10 years of his reign at Paris. On the other hand, the numero uno Serb has won five of the last six matches against Nadal, and will be looking to complete his career Grand Slam. Both Djokovic and Nadal were the finalists of the French Open last year as well, with the Spaniard showing his supremacy at the clay court with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, 6-4 victory. In the other quarterfinal, Andy Murray will take on David Ferrer. In the Women's quarterfinals, world number one Serena Williams will clash with Italian Sara Errani, while Swiss Timea Bacsinszky will meet Alison Van Uytvanck of Belgium. In the Doubles, top seeds Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis will play their quarterfinal fixture today. The Indo-Swiss pair will battle it out against the Czech-American team of Lucie Safarova and Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
