Visitng French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today and will urge him to implement rapidly the early purchase of the multi-billion dollar Rafale combat aircraft.
Mr .Fabius, who is in Delhi on a four-day visit, met with the Defence Minister Arun Jaitley yesterday and pushed for early purchase of the aircraft.
He told reporters that Rafale meets all the requirements of India, including cutting-edge technology and highest quality and hopes that with the new government, which is keen on efficiency, the implementation of the decision will be swift.
France has also signed agreements with 11 Indian educational institutions from the field of science and technology, law and management to facilitate exchange of students and faculty members.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Fabius, held comprehensive discussions with his Indian counterpart Ms. Sushma Swaraj on key bilateral, regional and international issues including space, civil nuclear energy cooperation, defence, anti-terrorism as well as the situation in Iraq.
