Freedom fighter and socialist leader Kanduri Charan Mallick died in Bhubaneswar today following old age ailments. He was 90.<br/><br/>A four-time MLA in Orissa, Mallick played an active role in the Quit India Movement and was arrested in August 1942 for leading college strike and for underground agitation with Jaya Prakash Narayan and Ram Manohar Lohia. Mallick was imprisoned from 1942 to 1945. <br/><br/> A crusader against untouchability and zamindari system, Mallick fought for uplift of the tribals, dalits and the downtrodden.<br/>
