In Odisha, eminent freedom fighter and former Union minister Bibhudendra Mishra has passed away at a private hospital in Cuttack due to old age-related ailments.
An associate of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, Mr. Mishra (93) is survived by a son and a daughter.
His wife had predeceased him in 2000. Born in Kundheibenta Sahi, Puri on November 30, 1928, Mishra was the Law minister in Jawaharlal Nehru's second cabinet. He had participated in the 1942 Quit India Movement and was incarcerated then.
A noted Odia litterateur and lawyer, he had also edited some Odia magazines during his illustrious career as a literary figure in the language spanning over seven decades.
