Free Swine flu vaccine shots for BPL people in TN

The Tamil Nadu government today informed the Madras High court that people living below poverty line would be given free swine flu vaccines at district hospitals free of cost. Filing a detailed report on the influenza situation and action being taken by the health department before the high court , the state government said 10 lakh people will be given swine flu vaccines and said 15 crores has been allotted for the purpose.The government filed the report following a public interest litigation petition seeking a direction to provide proper treatment to the people .Meanwhile, Chennai Corporation plans to administer swine flu vaccine at more places in the city. At present, the civic body is administering the vaccines, at a subsidised rate, at six of its laboratories.
