The Director General of Police K.P.Jain launched the toll free helpline for fishermen in the city today. Speaking to newsmen after the launch Mr. Jain said that 1093 is a toll free number dedicated exclusively for issues connected with coastal security and problems faced by fishermen in the sea. 591 villages spread over 12 coastal districts of the State will make use of the facility. On receiving the information, control room will immediately activate the State Government, Coast Guard or Navy depending on the nature of the immediacy. Answering to a query Mr. Jain said that 30 more marine police stations would be set up in 2 years to meet the demand.<br/>
