The Union Minister of Commerce, Anand Sharma, today emphasised on the free flow of knowledge and services for inclusive and sustainable global economic growth.
He said this while, inaugurating the International Partnership Summit in Hyderabad today.
Addressing over two thousand business and trade representatives from over 40 countries he advocated for free flow of knowledge and technology to overcome the development imbalances among the countries. He said technological advances should be used for larger public good.
Stating that the economic slowdown was a universal phenomenon, Mr Sharma said Regional Economic Partnerships like that of SAARC, will help overcome the economic challenges. He opined that emerging economies including India, China and Brazil will play a major role in sustaining economic growth in the next few years. He said cohesive partnerships combined with innovative ways of productivity will sustain growth.
Referring to the National Manufacturing Policy, Mr Sharma two more corridors on eastern and southern parts of the country will be developed to strengthen the manufacturing sector in the country. He added that seven Mega Integrated Industrial Townships in this regard are also being developed across the country.
Later, the Commerce Minister signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Afghanistan Mines Minister Wahidullah Shadrani. Under the $8 billion contract, the Steel Authority of India Limited is likely to explore Lithium mines in Afghanistan.
