The fourth Gulf Film Festival, which will be organised in Dubai from April 14 to 20 will screen three films on India. The UAE-UK-India production ‘Love Arranged’ is a documentary directed by filmmaker Soniya Kirpalani. Two other films from India are competing in Festival’s inaugural International Shorts competition, short listed from several dozen films submitted by Indian filmmakers. These films are Director Abhay Kumar’s ‘Just That Sort of a Day’ and ‘Six Strands’, directed by Chaitanya Tamhane. Gulf Festival Director Masoud Amralla Al Alihas said that India offers one of the most varied and vivid cinema experiences. While historically, the Arab world has followed the Hindi film industry. He asid that through the Gulf Film Festival’s International Shorts competition and Intersections segment at GFF, a slice of Indian cinema is being brought, which is seldom screened in Dubai.
