Fourth Ayurveda Day with a theme of 'Ayurveda for Longevity' was celebrated in Leh on Friday. In a programme organized in National Research Institute for Sowa-Rigpa, the traditional Sowa-Rigpa practitioners called Amchis from various parts of the Ladakh have participated. Sowa-Rigpa is one of the medical practices recognized under Ministry of Ayush, practiced in Himalayan states and countries.<br />'' <br />'' Speaking on the occasion, former Member of Parliament Thupstan Chewang said, under Union Territory of Ladakh has lot of scope to improve and expand the traditional Sowa-Rigpa medicinal system. He appealed the new UT should take measures to safeguard exclusive traditions of this region.<br />'' Ladakh Health Services Director Dr Phunsok Wangchuk said, the traditional medicinal system and Allopathic systems will compliment each other in future.<br />'' <br />'' Sowa-Rigpa medicines, medicinal herbs, plants and old s were put up on display on the occasion.<br />''  <br />
