Four persons reported kidnapped by suspected militants in Assam

In Assam, four persons, including two boys, have been kidnapped by suspected NDFB (Songbijit) insurgents in Baksa district. An indefinite curfew has been clamped in Salbari sub-division of the district after the body of one of the boys was found during search operation in adjoining Barpeta district yesterday.

Officials said, while the search operation is being carried out by police and CRPF, the army has been kept on stand by. They said, seven persons, reportedly lemon traders, came to Labdanguri market in Salbari sub-division from Barpeta on Friday evening but four of them did not return home. They have been identified as Bakar Ali, Saddam Ali, Ataur Rahman and Ruhul Amin.

Reacting to the incident, Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Gen.

VK Singh said these things need to be curbed and controlled and the region needs to get out of this violence.
