Four new vaccines have been added to the recently launched Centre's ambitious programme Mission Indradhanush to immunise children against preventable diseases. The new vaccines are inactivated polio vaccine, Adult Japanese Encephalitis vaccine, Rotavirus vaccine and Measles Rubella vaccine. <br/><br/>Earlier seven vaccines are given to the children for preventable diseases including Diptheria, Polio , Tetanus,Tuberculosis and Hepatitis B.Talking exclusively to AIR, Health Minister J P Nadda said, over 37 seven lakh children have been covered under its two phases so far. He said, the programme which was launched last year will increase the pace of routine immunisation by 5 percent as against the previous rate of 1 per cent.<br/><br/>Mr Nadda also said that the government will also launch a new vaccine this year to prevent Pneumonia among children. He said, the vaccine will be added in the mission Indradhanush programme. The Health Minister also said, Dr. Seth Berkley, CEO of GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance who called on him, has has provided 500 million dollar to India to give a push to immunisation porgramme.
