Four member committee to probe New Delhi Railway station stampede

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee has appointed a new four-member panel to probe into the yesterday's stampede at the New Delhi Railway station that claimed two lives and injured seven others. Earlier, a three-member panel was constituted but it was disbanded and replaced with an upgraded committee consisting of senior officials. <br/>Ms Banerjee, who is in Kolkata, instructed officials to ensure that strict action is taken against those responsible for the stampede. <br/>Ms Banerjee announced a compensation of two lakh rupees to the next of kin of the deceased and 50 thousand rupees for the injured. Railways will also pay 15 thousand to those who suffered minor injuries in the incident.<br/>The stampede occurred yesterday at the crowded New Delhi railway station soon after the announcement of change of platforms of two trains – Delhi-Muzaffarpur Sapt Kranti Express and Delhi-Bhagalpur Vikramsila Express.<br/>
