In Orissa, four Maoists have been killed in an exchange of fire between armed personnel and red rebels at Karlakota forest under Balimela police station of Malkangiri district this morning. The incident took place when 15 to 16 armed maoists started firing at the security forces carrying out combing operation deep in the Karlakota forest. A large amount of guns, bullets, granades and other ammunitions have been seized by the security personnel after the gun battle. Two security personnel have also been injured during the exchange of fire. Malkangir superintendent of police, Anirudha Singh, has told AIR correspondent that the bodies of the dead red rebels have been recovered from the forest. The incident has occured when CRPF Director General, K Vijay Kumar, is in Orissa to discuss about plans to contain the Maoist menace with Chief Minister of Orissa, Naveen Patnaik and other senior officials.
