In Uttar Pradesh, a total of four lakh 82 thousand 840 metric tonne of wheat has been procured in the current season. Quoting official sources, AIR correspondent reports that more than 512 crores of rupees has been paid to the farmers from whom wheat has been purchased and about 527 crore rupees are due for the payment to the farmers. <br/><br/>Several agencies including food department of State government and state run corporations like UP Agro, UPSS, Essential Commodities Corporation, PCF, NAFED and FCI have opened their purchase centres across the state to purchase wheat directly from farmers. <br/><br/>A total of 4 thousand 268 purchase centres are working in which maximum 2 thousand 99 centres are manned by Provincial Cooperative Federation. PCF has procured maximum 1 lakh 76 thousand 200 metric tonne wheat from the farmers.<br/>
