Four dead after quake hits off Indonesia's Java island

In Indonesia, four persons were killed due to a strong earthquake that hit off Java Island. Authorities said more than 200 houses were also damaged in the quake that struck the Island last night. The strong quake was felt in the capital, Jakarta and people rushed out of high-rise buildings.<br />'' <br />'' The US Geological Survey said its magnitude was 6.8 on the Richter Scale. The quake was centred 151 kilometres from Banten province off Java's southwest coast.<br />'' <br />'' Indonesia issued a tsunami warning within minutes of the quake. The warning lasted two hours and sent people living along the coastline fleeing to higher ground.<br />''
