Four arrested accused in the July 11, 2006 Mumbai serial train blasts case on Wednesday filed an application before the special MCOCA court stating that they want to dismiss the two lawyers defending them. The matter has been now adjourned till August 10 when the court will continue recording the evidence of prosecution witnesses. The court is conducting trial against 13 arrested accused allegedly belonging to the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) under the stringent provisions of MCOCA. Lawyers for all the accused were appointed by Jamiat-e-Ulema, a Muslim organisation. On July 11, 2006, RDX-laden bombs ripped the first class compartments of seven suburban trains in the city within a span of ten minutes, killing 187 persons and injuring 800 others.
