<br/>In Sikkim, in a significant development towards ensuring a hustle-free round the clock road connectivity to the state, the state Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling laid the foundation stone for a tunnel at Bardang in East District today. This will be one of the two tunnels proposed to be constructed along the National Highway 31-A, the only road connecting the landlocked mountainous state to the rest of country via Siliguri in West Bengal. AIR Gangtok correspondent reports that the 80 meter long tunnel to be completed in May next year, combined with another 1.2 kilometer long tunnel and the number of bridges proposed to be constructed along the highway will also end the era of frequent isolation of the state due to landslides particularly during the Monsoon.
