Foundation stone laid for automated multi level car parking at Transport Bhawan

Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari today laid the foundation stone for automated multi level car parking facility at Transport Bhawan in New Delhi. The office building on the Parliament Street will be the first government building which will have an automated multi level car parking facility in its premises.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Mr Naidu said, when the parking lot will come up in nine months from now it will play a major role in decongesting the area and will be an example for other Ministries to follow. He stressed that for timely initiation and completion of projects it is very necessary that all concerned agencies should come together, discuss and sort out issues so that ease of approval can be brought in. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gadkari said the automated parking lot will come as a big relief not only to the staff of Transport Bhawan but also all visitors to the building. He said the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is already working on several plans to decongest Delhi and National Capital Region.<br/><br/>The automated parking lot project is being undertaken by NHIDCL. The facility will comprise ground plus seven floors. Spread over an area of 314 sq metres and with a height of 22 metres, the facility will be able to house 112 cars. The retrieving time for cars will be 120 seconds. The facility is being built by a Swiss Company.
