Haryana today got the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), as the Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Union Heavy Industry and Public Enterprises Minister Vilas Rao Desmukh the laid the foundation in Manesar. This will be the second phase of ICAT under National Automotive Testing and R & D Infrastructure Project (NATRIP). Mr Desmukh said that the Manesar centre would be developed in about 46 acres of land at a cost of 500 crores rupees. He said that this would be a step in the direction of making India a front runner in automotive sector. Mr Desmukh was of the view that Indian growth is largely fueled by two wheeler and four wheeler industry majority ofwhich are set up in Haryana. Mr Deshmukh congratulated Haryana Chief Minister for achievement in field of Auto & other industries and added that ‘being Maharashtrian I accept that the state of Haryana has surpassed even Maharastra in terms of development. This is a healthy competition which should be there between the states.’ He said that the Manesar centre would provide state of art facility of testing and R&D to not only Haryana but to the whole of north India. While speaking as chief guest in the function, the Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh said that the IMT Manesar Centre will be another milestone in Haryana’s progress towards greater prosperity. He said that today our automobile industry has achieved unprecedented milestones. Brand India has already made a mark on the world stage but this is just a beginning.Minister of state for Heavy Industry Arun Yadav, Secretary B S Meena and Joint Secretary Ambuj Sharma also addressed the gathering.<br/>
