The Ministry of External Affairs said that it will continue to monitor the situation and added that the embassy in Oslo will extend all possible consular assistance to an NRI couple whose two infant children have been placed in foster parental care. As the matter is sub-judice, the Bhattacharyas have been advised to take suitable legal recourse. A Ministry of External Affairs release said that apart from the two embassies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway has been sensitized about the matter informally. Mr. and Mrs. Anurup Bhattacharya, are based in Stavanger (Norway), and their children were taken under protective care by Barnevarne i.e. Norwegian Child Welfare Services as per the directive of the local Norwegian court, as mandated under Norwegian laws.
