Former Union Minister passes away, to be cremated with official honours today

Former Union Minister and Veteran Congress leader P. Shiv Shankar, who passed away yesterday in Hyderabad, will be cremated with official honours this morning in Hyderabad. The former Governor of Kerala and Sikkim was ailing for the past some time and breathed his last at his residence. He was 88 and survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.<br/><br/>Born in Ranga Reddy district, Shiv Shankar was prominent leader from backward classes. He became a Minister in Indira Gandhi's cabinet holding portfolio of law and Justice. Later he also held portfolios of external affairs, Commerce, petroleum and Human Resources Development ministries in Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi cabinets.<br/><br/>Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan and Chief Minister Chandrasekhara Rao and PCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy are among several leaders who paid their last respects to the departed leader and condole his family members.<br/><br/>
