Former UK PM Brown to stay on as MP

Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, whose Labour party suffered one of its worst electoral defeats in the May 6 polls, has no plans to retire from politics.After a two-and-a-half-hour chat with Brown at his home in North Queensferry in Scotland on Wednesday, Alex Rowley, his constituency agent and friend, told the Times that Brown's intention is to stay on as an MP, absolutely.There had been speculation that Brown might move to the US, where he could work for global financial institutions or possibly the Gates Foundation.But friends say he has no desire to follow his predecessor Tony Blair's frantic post-prime ministerial path on which he has set up charities, sought peace in the Middle East and earned a fortune.
