Former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam's funeral will take place in his birth place Rameswaram following the request of his family members. His body is being flown to New Delhi from Guwahati this morning. Prime minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, three service chiefs will receive his mortal remains at Palam airport this afternoon. The casket containing the mortal remains will be brought to his residence 10 Rajaji Marg in a gun carriage. People can pay their homage to the departed soul at the Rajaji Marg 4 pm onward. <br/><br/>Former President APJ Abdul Kalam passed away in Shillong yesterday evening. He was 83. The former President was rushed to the Bethany hospital after he collapsed during a lecture in the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. Known as People's President, Dr Kalam breathed his last at a hospital in Meghalaya's capital at 7.45 PM.
