Former Pak Prez Musharraf placed under house arrest

Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has been placed under house arrest at his home on the outskirts of Islamabad. Earlier, he appeared in court to face charges relating to the detention of judges six years ago.

Pakistan woke up to the news that the former military ruler was back in court. Police said he had been arrested overnight. A spokesman for Musharraf said he had surrendered himself to the authorities. Yesterday he sped away from the court house with his body guards after judges revoked his bail. But there was no hasty getaway today. He has been spared a trip to jail at least for now. Judges ruled he can have two days of house arrest.
