Former NSA MK Narayanan attacked in Chennai

A miscreant attacked him with footwear as he made a speech on the future of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in India organized by a newspaper.

When he returned from the dais, a youth suddenly assaulted him, though he seemingly did not suffer any injuries.

The police immediately arrested the attacker. It is learnt that the attacker is from Pudukottai district and owes allegiance to a fringe linguistic outfit called "May 17 Movement," which was formed after the final war in Sri Lanka in 2009.

The city police sources told AIR that about 75 people belonging to the same outfit were arrested while trying to stage demonstrations against the event before its commencement.
