A report says former Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov will appeal to Russia's Supreme Court over his removal from office by President Dmitry Medvedev. According to a report from Interfax news agency, Yuri Luzhkovm would challenge the decision to remove him from office in court. The decree on Luzhkov's dismissal was issued on the Kremlin website yesterday morning and was immediately effective. Luzhkov had been in the post for the last 18 years.
