Former Maldives president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, who is under police custody post-emergency, has said that he would not cooperate with unlawful investigations. <br/><br/>Mr Gayoom, who is under arrest since February 5 after imposition of emergency in the country, said this when police interrogated him on Saturday. <br/><br/>It was revealed by his legal team during a press conference held after the interrogation. <br/><br/>Mr. Gayoom told the police that he does not believe that the investigation is being conducted in accordance with the law and therefore he would not cooperate with such an investigation. <br/><br/>He told them that he would fully cooperate when they follow the law, bring a legitimate accusation against him and provide sufficient evidence to back the accusation.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, former President Mohammed Nasheed has strongly condemned the attacks on opposition activists by police on Friday. <br/><br/>In a message he said that even journalists covering the protests were heavily pepper sprayed and beaten up by police. <br/><br/>Maldivian police has claimed that the journalists were supporting the protests. <br/><br/>Police has arrested several opposition members during past few days.
