Former Karnataka Minister and senior Congress leader M Y Ghorpade is dead. He was 80. He died after a prolonged illness in a Bangalore hospital on Saturday.Ghorpade belonged to erstwhile Sandur Royal family in mine rich Bellary district. Ghorpade was known as a seasoned politician, an Industrialist, writer and an award winning Photographer. He was member of State Legislative Assembly for more than four terms and had served as Minister for Finance,Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj and Minister for Information and Publicity. He was elected to the Parliament in 1986.
