Former Governor of Tamil Nadu P.C Alexander passed away after a brief illness in Chennai on Wednesday. He was 90. Expressing shock and sadness at the news of his death, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Ms. J. Jayalalithaa in a press release proudly remembered the outstanding services of Mr. Alexander in various capacities. Mr. Alexander had joined as a bureaucrat in 1948, a principal secretary to late Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Indian High Commissioner to UK and also served as Governor of Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. He was also a Rajya Sabha member. He had also authored many books and articles on various subjects. His body was flown to Kerala for the last rites.
