In Tamilnadu, former DMK Ministers Veerapandi S. Arumugam and I. Periyasamy were arrested on Monday on charges of land grabbing and illegal gravel mining respectively.The DMK strongman and former Agriculture Minister Mr.Arumugam was arrested around in the afternoon near his Chennai residence and was taken to Salem for further questioning.Previously , vigilance officials had conducted raids at 16 premises of Mr. Arumugam and his relatives in Chennai and Salem in connection with a disproportionate assets case this May.In a similar way,Mr.I. Periyasamy was arrested at Koombur in Dindigul on the charge of illegal gravel mining and later remanded to judicial custody.
