Former distinguished newsreader of All India Radio, Surajit Sen passed away this afternoon, in a private hospital, after a brief illness. <br/><br/>He was 89. Surajit Sen first joined the army, but left it to start his career as an English Newsreader in the News Services Division of All India in 1947. Soon he became one of its most renowned voices, and later its Chief Newsreader.<br/><br/>He was also one of the most famous sports commentators of his time. Surajit Sen's funeral will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, New Delhi, on 9 May.
