Former DGP Mr E.Rammohan to conduct enquiry into the naxal attacks in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh in which 76 security personnel lost their lives. <br/><br/>Mr. Rammohan has been asked to submit the report in 15 days. As reported, the Home Minister Mr. P.Chidambaram has announced during the day that a time frame is being set up for the enquiry.<br/><br/>Talking to reporters after the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security, the Home Minister Mr P.Chidambaram said that the government today decided to set up an inquiry into the incident that claimed lives of 76 security personnel.<br/><br/>Replying a volley of question on the attack in Dantewada district, Mr Chidambaram reiterated in his earlier statement that something went wrong and added that the inquiry ordered will find it out.<br/><br/>Asked about the source of weapons used by the extremists, Mr Chidambaram said that they buy arms from across the border and bring them clandestinely into the country using India's open and porous borders with Nepal, Myanmar and Bangaldesh. He said, operational decision against the naxals will have to be taken by the state governments and the central's role is only to assist them.<br/><br/>The Home Minister said, a large number of mine protected vehicles have been ordered by the para-military forces and they include 280 by the CRPF. The Prime Minister has already made it clear that government has not taken any view on using air power against the naxals but is open to all suggestions.<br/><br/>A bandh was observed in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh in protest against the killings today. The State Congress leaders alleged that the Chhattisgarh government has failed to tackle the naxal menace and sought imposition of President's rule in the state.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the Orissa Chief Minister Mr Naveen Patnaik has received a fresh threat through e-mail from suspected maoist who have warned a repeat of Dantewada type massacre in Orissa.
