In Uttar Pradesh Special Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Lucknow has sent Former Chief Medical Officer of Lucknow Dr. A.K. Shukla to jail for 14 days under judicial custody. He was arrested yesterday from a hospital in Lucknow in connection with alleged financial irregularities in health and family welfare department under National Rural Health Mission. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the court has directed the jail authorities to keep him under special security arrangements and in camera surveillance in jail after he claimed threat to his life. Citing health problems, Dr. Shukla sought permission for treatment outside the jail, but the court said that facilities would be provided by the jailor as per the jail manual.
