Former Afghan Prez Rabbani killed in bomb attack

Reports from Afghanistan say the chairman of the Afghan High Peace Council and the former Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani has been killed in a suicide attack in Wazir Akbar Khan area of Kabul on Tuesday evening . Four other persons have also been killed in the attack. However, official sources are yet to confirm the incident. Reports also say Rabbani was meeting two members of the Taliban at his home at the time of the blast. The High Peace Council leads Afghan efforts to negotiate with the Taliban. Mr. Rabbani was Afghan President from 1992 to 1996. AIR Correspondent reports that earlier in Kabul, NATO's International Security Assistance Force also issued an alert for its officials in Kabul on Tuesday evening. Last Wednesday, six insurgents attacked the NATO headquarters and the nearby US Embassy from under construction multi storied building. Embassies of many other countries are situated in this area
