Former AAP leader Yogendra Yadav arrested from farmers' protest site in Delhi

Delhi Police today arrested former Aam Aadmi Party leader Yogendra Yadav and more than 50 others from the site of a farmers' protest in the national capital last night. Talking to our correspondent this morning, Mr Yadav said he does not know the reason for their arrest as they had been protesting peacefully at Jantar Mantar. Police has justified the action saying former AAP leader was arrested due to security reasons.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvinf Kejriwal condemned the treatment meted out to Yogendra Yadav and sought Home Minister Rajnath Singh's intervention on the matter. AAP leader Sanjay Singh, who reached the police station to meet Yogendra Yadav, was turned back by Yadav supporters.

Mr Yadav and the others were taking part in a protest by farmers from Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan against the controversial amendments to the Land Bill.
