Former Aam Aadmi Party leader Shazia Ilmi joined BJP on Friday evening. Earlier in the day, she met BJP President Amit Shah in New Delhi.

Briefing media after joining the party, Ms. Ilmi said that personally, she is not in favour of contesting the assembly elections, however, she will follow instructions from the central leadership of the party.

Ilmi had quit AAP in May last year blaming lack of internal democracy in the party.

Music and Film Director Anand Raj Anand also joined BJP. Party incharge Prabhat Jha and State Unit Chief Satish Upadhyay were present on the occasion.
