Forest officers released by militants in Assam

In Assam, the Chief Conservator of Forests and the Range Forest Officer Ranjan Baruah, have been released safely by their abductors after three days of captivity. Suspected Karbi Peoples’ Liberation tiger (KPLT) militants kidnapped both of them at gun-point from Budlok area of Singhasan hills under Manja Police station on Saturday last when they were returning after conducting survey of some medicinal plants. According to official sources, the militants released them at Bokolia area of the Singhasan hills last night. The officials are now undergoing treatment in Civil Hospital at Diphu.
