The Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has sacked the head of the Forestry Agency for failing to deal adequately with the recent wild fires, which destroyed hundreds of thousands of hectares of counryside and engulfed Moscow with dense smog. Many Russians, however, believe Putin himself should share the blame for having pushed through a law that decentralised protection of Russia's vast forests.
