Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla called on the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka today. Briefing the media after the meeting, Prime Minister's &nbsp;Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said that the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was discussed during the meeting. He said issues of bilateral interest and sub-regional connectivity between the two countries was also discussed.<br />''<br />'' Foreign Secretary also called on Foreign Minister Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader in Dhaka today. He also had a meeting with his Bangladeshi counterpart Masud Bin Momen. They held discussions on India-Bangladesh partnership and plans for the visit of Prime Minister Modi to Bangladesh.<br />'' <br />'' <br />'' Foreign Secretary Shringla arrived in Bangladesh in the morning on Monday to prepare the ground for the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh later this month.<br />'' <br />'' <br />'' Earlier, addressing a seminar on India Bangladesh's relationship, Foreign Secretary Shringla said that India attaches the greatest priority to its relationship with Bangladesh. He said a strong, prosperous, peaceful and harmonious Bangladesh in India's national interest. He lauded Bangladesh for its spectacular performance in improving socio-economic indicators like health, literacy and women's education among many others. &nbsp;<br />'' <br />'' Highlighting the growing contact between people of the two countries he said that India gets the largest number of tourists from Bangladesh. He said there has been a remarkable improvement in the process of granting visa to Bangladeshi citizens to visit India.<br />'' <br />'' On the issue of connectivity between India and Bangladesh, the Foreign Secretary said that all six pre-1965 era railway crossings were likely to be completely restored by 2021. He said that to enhance the navigability of waterways that serve as crucial north-south connectivity artery for Bangladesh, India has agreed to dredge waterways of the Kushtiya and Jamuna rivers.<br />'' <br />'' Talking about the innovative ways of cooperation between India and Bangladesh he said that India's decision to buy foreign-sourced LPG in bulk at Chattogram, and transport it using special trucks, run by Bangladeshi companies, to Tripura will benefit both the countries.<br />'' <br />'' Foreign Secretary Shringla said that steps are being taken to simplify and expand trade between the two countries to utilise the untapped potential.<br />'' <br />'' Talking about the NRC in Assam he assured that it is an issue entirely internal to India and it will have no implications for Bangladesh.<br />'' <br />'' Foreign secretary Shringla stressed the need for closer defence ties between the two countries. He said India is willing to share all the military hardware being produced in the country with Bangladesh.<br />'' <br />'' On the Rohingya issue, Foreign Secretary Shringla said that India supports Bangladesh on the issue of displaced persons from Rakhine province of Myanmar. He extended India's support and cooperation in finding a mutually acceptable solution to the issue so that displaced persons from Rakhine can return to Myanmar.<br />'' <br />'' He will leave for India on Tuesday.<br />'' &nbsp;<br />
