Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar today met Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in Colombo today and discussed bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest. <br/><br/>Sources said, both sides discussed growing economic ties between the two countries as well as the political situation in the island nation. Foreign Secretary also met members of Tamil National Alliance (TNA), the largest political group representing minority Tamils. <br/><br/>Mr. Jaishankar reportedly urged the TNA to unite for the Tamils' rights and cooperate with India in the economic development of the Tamil-speaking Northern and Eastern Provinces. He said, India is keen on taking up development projects in Tamil majority provinces of North and east. <br/><br/>The TNA pointed out that the Sirisena-Wickremesinghe government has not fulfilled any of the promises which it said it would fulfill in the first 100 days of office. They complained that very little of the lands seized by the military has been handed back to its original owners and no concrete steps have been taken to trace the disappeared.
