Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla to pay 2-day visit to Myanmar from today

<span style="color: #222222;">Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla will pay a two-day visit to Myanmar starting from today. The Ministry of External Affairs said that Foreign Secretary will hold discussions with the State Administration Council (SAC), political parties and members of civil society during the visit. Issues relating to humanitarian support to Myanmar, security and India- Myanmar border concerns and the political situation in Myanmar will be discussed,<br />'' <br />'' This is the first visit of Foreign Secretary Shringla to Myanmar since the military government took over in February this year after removing the civilian government led by Aung San Suu Kyi. Earlier, Shringla had visited Myanmar in 2020.<br />'' <br />'' Myanmar is an important neighbouring country of India sharing a 1,640 kilometre-long border with it.  <br />''<br />''India has been cooperating with Myanmar with supplies of vaccine and medicines to combat the COVID 19 pandemic. In August, it provided medicines and medical devices through local bodies for 130 villages in the Bogo region of the country. In January it handed over 1.5 million doses of COVISHIELD vaccines to Myanmar.</span>
