Foreign Minister of Congo holds talks with Union Minister MJ Akbar in Delhi

Visiting Foreign Minister of Democratic Republic of Congo, Raymond Tshibanda N'tungamulongo held a meeting with Minister of State for External Affairs M J Akbar in New Delhi today. <br/><br/>The two leaders held wide ranging discussions on entire gamut of bilateral relations. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said the Foreign Minister conveyed his government's deep appreciation for the assistance provided by India to his country in areas of skill development and capacity building. <br/><br/>India has funded several projects in Congo amounting to 495 million dollars in diverse areas like setting up cement plant, power distribution projects and water supply. He condemned recent unfortunate incidents related to two Congolese nationals in India as well as some incidents concerning Indian nationals in Kinshasa. <br/><br/>He appreciated pro active steps taken by Indian government in both incidents and requested for speedy trial. He also assured that Congo will take all necessary measures to provide security to Indian nationals in the country. Mr Akbar conveyed that as a society and nation, India does not believe in racial discrimination. <br/><br/>The visiting Foreign Minister expressed Congo's support to India's candidature for non permanent seat of the UN Security Council for the term 2021-22 for which elections will be held in 74th session of UN General Assembly in New York in 2020.
