The Foreign Exchange earnings from tourism grew by over 15 percent in May 2011 compared to the same month last year. The number of foreign tourist arrivals in India registered an increase of seven percent in this period. According to an official release, the total foreign exchange earnings stood at over 5,000 crore rupees in May 2011 as against 4,300 crore rupees in May 2010.
