The head of NATO's military operations in Libya has accused forces loyal to Colonel Gaddafi of hiding in hospitals and firing on civilians from the roofs of mosques in the rebel-held city of Misrata. The Lieutenant General, Charles Bouchard, said pro-Gaddafi forces have placed armoured vehicles inside schools, removed their uniforms on occasions and employed what he called underhand and immoral tactics in their seven-week drive to dislodge the rebels from the city. Almost a thousand people evacuated from the besieged Libyan city of Misrata, have arrived in the rebel stronghold of Benghazi. They have been brought in on a ship chartered by the aid agency, The International Organization for Migration, which says thousands more are waiting to be rescued.Britain has pledged to provide more than three million dollars for the evacuation of five thousand people from Misrata.
