Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said, footwear industry has immense potential to boost country's economy. Inaugurating the second edition of the India International Footwear in New Delhi, Mr. Jaitley said the country is passing through a transformative phase and it is an appropriate time for the industry to showcase its strength at the competitive world platform.The Minister said, footwear industry would see a significant rise in employment generation in the coming days. Mr Jaitley said, the leather industry in the country is facing challenge due to shrinking of markets, but this is a transient phenomenon. India Trade Promotion Organization CMD L C Goyal, Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia among other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
