South Korea on Monday reported further outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease, indicating the government's failure to contain the spread of the highly contagious animal disease. The Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said a pig farm in southwest of Seoul, tested positive for the disease, along with a cattle farm in Gangwon Province. Quarantine authorities have decided to cull animals on the properties as a precautionary measure, along with other livestock within a 500-meter radius of the affected farms. The disease has so far spread to six cities and province after the first outbreak in Andong in November last year.
